Tax Cuts and Job Losses
Re “No More Tax Cuts Planned, President Says,” Aug. 14: President Bush’s initial tax cut was clearly not meant to address the working class. Obviously, it was a benefit for the rich. Furthermore, with the country in a $455-billion deficit and a prominent $475-billion deficit next year, a second tax cut was not a smart thing to do.
The president’s firm belief that the tax cuts were “the absolute right course of action in order to help people find a job” -- well, sorry to burst your bubble, Mr. President, but it has been over two years since your first tax cut and ... where are all the jobs? Unemployment has risen since the tax cuts.
