Couple in Plot to Aid Doctor’s Killer Freed

A husband and wife who conspired to help a man who gunned down an abortion provider in 1998 were freed after serving more than two years in prison.
A federal judge said guidelines precluded a longer term for Loretta Marra, 39, and Dennis Malvasi, 53, who pleaded guilty in April to conspiring to harbor then-fugitive James Kopp, who was convicted this year of killing Dr. Barnett Slepian near Buffalo.
