How long will the new governor’s term last if the recall effort succeeds?

The candidate who wins the successor election is entitled to serve out the rest of Davis’ term -- a little more than three years.

The next regular gubernatorial election is scheduled for November 2006. That is, barring another recall election. If Davis is ousted, his successor could be a target of a new recall petition, starting from the day the election is certified.
