From Times Wire Reports

A divided U.N. General Assembly approved a resolution asking the International Court of Justice to examine the legal consequences of Israel’s construction of a barrier that juts into the West Bank.

The vote was 90 to 8, with 74 abstentions, reflecting uneasiness in many nations on referring the issue to the World Court, based in The Hague. Its opinion would not be legally binding.

The U.S. and Israel were among those voting “no” on the resolution, but Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon agreed to cooperate with any investigation by the court.
