U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy G. Thompson, who spent more than three decades in government, said he would seek work in the private sector -- preferably as a chief executive officer -- after the 2004 election, a newspaper reported.

Thompson, 62, served in the Wisconsin Legislature for 20 years and as governor for 14 years before leaving in 2001 to take the Cabinet post in the Bush administration.

“My wife would like me to make some money, and I want to go out when my health is still good,” he told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
