D.A. Won’t Charge Woman in Theft Case
The Los Angeles district attorney’s office has decided not to file criminal charges against a former business officer at USC’s Annenberg School for Communication whom the university accused of stealing more than $100,000.
Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office, said prosecutors determined that they had insufficient evidence to bring a grand theft case against the former business officer, Lisa Colleen Grabow.
Grabow, also known as Lisa Kalem, worked for USC for 11 years before leaving in January 2002. She reached a confidential out-of-court settlement with USC in April. In court papers, USC accused her of using university funds to, among other things, remodel her home and pay for personal moving expenses. She also was accused of putting her husband on the payroll at the USC Law Library and of forging a dean’s signature to pay for lecturers who did not speak on campus.
Grabow could not be reached for comment.
