City Official Requests Audit of Tourism Bureau

San Diego City Councilwoman Donna Frye asked for documentation Tuesday detailing how the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau spent $12.5 million in hotel tax revenue from the city.
In a letter to City Manager Michael Uberuaga, Frye said taxpayers had a right to know how the agency spent the allowance.
Frye’s request to audit the tourism books came after published reports outlined the benefits package received by the agency’s president.
Reint Reinders received an interest-free $50,000 loan in addition to his $225,000 annual salary and $81,000 bonus.
