Hot Roasted Memories

Share

Re “They’re All Aglow for Chestnuts,” Dec. 25: As a suburban teenager shopping or going to the movies in midtown Manhattan during the winter, I loved to buy hot roasted chestnuts on the street. Scooped from a brazier and served in tiny brown paper bags, they were fun to peel, and delicious. Thanks for bringing back a warm memory. It doesn’t have to be minus 20 for hot chestnuts to taste good. The first vendor who roasts chestnuts on the 3rd Street Promenade on a nippy L.A. winter day should do just fine.
