Man Killed in Apparent Robbery Try, Police Say

A man died in South-Central during an apparent robbery attempt when at least one of five attackers opened fire into his pickup truck early Saturday, police said.
The dead man, said to be in his 50s, was stopped at the intersection of Main and 71st streets with a friend when four male teenagers and a man approached his car, said LAPD Lt. Marty Cotwright.
One teenager opened fire and killed the driver. His passenger was not injured, Cotwright said.
