At the remodeled Vida, the newdecor is in the bag

Proof that the worlds of fashion and food continue to converge: The paint job in progress at Vida, chef Fred Eric’s Los Feliz restaurant, looks like a Louis Vuitton handbag. Gone are the building’s earthy browns.

While developing a new look and new menu for 10-year-old Vida, Eric spotted the multicolored, cartoony logo created for Louis Vuitton’s spring collection by guest artist Takashi Murakami.

Unlike the handbag’s signature LV’s, the building is covered in V’s (for Vida).

The new Vida debuts Feb. 15. Inspired by the idea of a picnic-meets-dim sum-meets tapas, Eric developed a six-section menu of small plates that features dips, hot plates, vegetables, sticks, bowls and more.

Each item, including a lobster wrapped in crispy noodles, costs between $5 and $12.
