First things first: eating, dancing, book shopping

Busy PHILIPPS plays Audrey Lidell, one of the crew on “Dawson’s Creek,” but when she’s not working, she knows how to relax -- eat.

A jump on the weekend

My weekend starts on Thursday night. I love to dance, but I hate going out dancing on the weekends. It’s just too crowded and I don’t like to stand in lines.

So Thursday nights I go to Star Shoes -- it’s this shoe store on Hollywood Boulevard during the day and at night it’s a nightclub. They play ‘80s-early ‘90s music, hip-hop, fun dance music. It’s a little retro and it’s not Hollywoody -- I know, sounds strange to say, because it’s right there on the boulevard.

Sometimes if I’m off on a weekday, my roommate and I will go picnic at the La Brea Tar Pits. We’ll just pack a lunch and watch the school kids and all of the other visitors.

Walking and shopping

On the weekends, my friends and I like to go eat, walk around and shop. Let’s see, starting with breakfast, I might have it at the Grove, or I might have it at the Coral Tree Cafe in Brentwood. They have this egg scramble that they serve with a chicken apple sausage. It’s great. Then I also like Swingers on Lincoln in Santa Monica. There I’ll have two pancakes, two eggs and turkey bacon. Or I might go to any Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and have an English breakfast tea latte.

After breakfast we might go to a bookstore -- there are a lot of good used bookstores near Bundy on Wilshire. I pretty much read anything, but I really like historical fiction. And I pass on lunch, I’m pretty full from breakfast.

Saturday nights we like to go to this dive bar called Del’s Saloon on Santa Monica. They have karaoke. It’s really small, but fun. If we don’t feel like Del’s and we want to shoot pool, we’ll go to Q’s. I’ll pretty much do anything as long as I don’t have to stand in line.

Fish dinner and fabulous dessert

If I go out to dinner, I’ll go to Babalu on Montana. They really have good fish. And their banana cream pie is the best dessert in the universe. We order it first -- seriously -- they make only so much, so if you don’t get your order in, they run out of it.

I like California Pizza Kitchen too. I worked there once and I still love it and their Key lime pie. Then I also like P.F. Chang’s -- I get their crispy honey shrimp or chicken lettuce wraps. Or I’ll go to Houston’s -- they have the best veggie burgers in the world.

Routine Sunday

I don’t have a regular exercise routine now, but I do get some exercise on Sundays. We normally take it easy, maybe do a crossword. I have a friend who lives in an apartment at the bottom of Runyon Canyon and sometimes we hike up to the top, or just sit at the entrance and watch the dogs.

A taste for indie rock

I like going to movies at the Grove or the ArcLight. The ArcLight is pretty pricey, but it’s really nice.

Sometimes, after we see a movie, we go to Amoeba Records and buy some CDs. I don’t go often, but when I do I buy about 10 CDs. I’ve got this CD of French pop music from the ‘60s -- Brigitte Bardot has a song on it -- it’s fun! But mostly I like indie rock.
