Disappearing U.S. Jobs

Share

Years ago, the U.S. had protective tariffs on products that were made in foreign countries. That caused prices on foreign items to be high enough so that U.S. manufacturers could compete successfully. President Clinton’s and President Bush’s free-trade agreements have eliminated almost all tariffs so that U.S. manufacturers can no longer compete. Many U.S. manufacturing plants have shut down or moved to foreign countries, along with the associated jobs. We needed those jobs. This is the main cause of our recession.
