Seeing a Way of Life

Gina Ferazzi’s photos accompanying “High Noon at the Blair Ranch” (Feb. 9) provided a dramatic visual exclamation point to this tale of a disappearing way of life.

In particular, her shot of Howard Blair, 76, sitting at the entrance to a shed, with his cat prancing by and his son in the background with horse and dog, shows so poignantly the confluence of man, animal and nature. Great photojournalism accompanying regional features is a strength of The Times. And these images were especially powerful.
