Council OKs Expansion of Benefits Ordinance

The City Council approved an expansion Wednesday of the city’s equal benefits ordinance, ordering that city contractors provide employees’ domestic partners with the same benefits as spouses.
The ordinance would apply the requirement to companies that get competitive city contracts for more than $5,000.
