Former Illinois Sen. Carol Moseley-Braun, the first black woman elected to the U.S. Senate, will launch her 2004 campaign for the White House next week, a spokesman said.

Moseley-Braun, who lost her reelection bid in 1998, will travel to key campaign states Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina this weekend and speak to a session of the Democratic National Committee next week in her effort to become the first woman and first black to win a major-party presidential nod.
