Britain’s highest court will hear the appeal by Amgen Inc. of Thousand Oaks in a patent dispute with rival Transkaryotic Therapies Inc. over competing anemia drugs. The House of Lords will review a decision that Transkaryotic’s drug Dynepo does not infringe a patent covering Amgen’s $2-billion treatment Epogen. It also will hear Transkaryotic’s argument that the patent is invalid.

DaimlerChrysler recalled 1.2 million Dodge and Chrysler sedans in North America because a bolt can wear out and break, causing the front seat to recline unexpectedly while the car is moving, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said. The voluntary recall covers 1998 through 2002 models of the Chrysler 300M, Concorde, LHS and Intrepid, as well as the Dodge Intrepid.
