Film stands on its own

“The Pianist” is a very powerful film (“The Past Plays On,” Feb. 2). Not only did it broaden my perceptions of the past and of the world in general, but it broadened my outlook on the present and on my life specifically. It did exactly what a great movie can do. Simply put, it made me think and it made me feel. Is this enough to make it worth seeing despite what Roman Polanski has done in the past? I don’t know. That’s up to everyone to decide for themselves. But I do know one thing, the world is a better place for having “The Pianist” in it.
