Democratic presidential hopeful John F. Kerry was released from a Baltimore hospital after surgery to remove his cancerous prostate, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The Massachusetts senator, 59, underwent surgery Wednesday at Johns Hopkins Hospital. His surgeon said the cancer had not spread.
