A Trip Down Memory Lane

Share

The article “Blast-Off for Bike Messengers” (by Leilah Bernstein, Metropolis, Jan. 19) brought back memories of riding my bicycle in L.A. as a messenger boy for Postal Telegraph Co. around 1935. Day and night, in rain or fog, we rode to Union Station, the wholesale produce market, the flower market, banks and other businesses. There were no electric bikes to help us in those days. Salary: $12 for 40 hours.
