Number of Mortgage Defaults Decreases

The number of homeowners defaulting on their mortgage loans dropped last year in Sacramento and Yolo counties.
According to an analysis of county property records by DataQuick Information Systems, the number of notices of default filed by lenders against Sacramento County homeowners fell 13% last year compared to 2001. Notice filings in Yolo County inched down, from 354 in 2001 to 345 last year.
Statewide, residential defaults last year fell to their lowest level since DataQuick started tracking them in 1992.
