Overspending Argentina

Share

Your carry-over headline and sub-headlines in “The Good Life Is No More for Argentina” (Feb. 18) blamed the free market and the world economy for Argentina’s problems.

They should have read, “Corruption and overspending kill Argentina’s economy.” Corruption and bad fiscal discipline caused the problem. For years, the government spent more than it collected. Argentina’s massive problems were caused by out-of-control politicians and the people who elected them. Your blaming the free market and the economy distorts the reality. As long as Argentina continues to spend more than it takes in, it will find no way out of its problem. I hope we in California can take a lesson from Argentina.
