A rushed arrival for ‘Big Fat Greek Life’

Talk about a quick turnaround from film to TV series: “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” came out on video only two weeks ago; the small-screen version, which takes up after the honeymoon, arrives at 9:30 tonight as “My Big Fat Greek Life.”

The TV adaptation features most of the cast from the hit movie, including Nia Vardalos, who not only starred in the film but also wrote it and received an Oscar nomination for best original screenplay.

Actually, “My Big Fat Greek Life” is arriving even quicker than originally planned. CBS initially announced it for next month but then chose tonight instead, so that the show could have the hit “Everybody Loves Raymond” as its lead-in and perhaps give the network an extra boost in the final days of the February ratings sweeps.

So rushed was the timetable that CBS said it was unable to provide cassettes for critics to review beforehand. A little Windex couldn’t have helped?
