Police Officer Runs Over Sunbathers on Beach
From Times Wire Reports
A French tourist remained in critical condition a day after she was badly hurt and her sister killed when a police vehicle ran them over as they sunbathed on a beach.
The Miami Beach Police Department and the city’s mayor have set up a blood drive to help Sandrine Tunc.
Tunc, 26, and her sister Stephanie, 27, were struck by the sport-utility vehicle as they lay on a crowded beach. Officer George Varon, who has been placed on administrative leave, apparently didn’t see the two as he hunted for robbery suspects.
