* Art Cooper, editor in chief of GQ, will resign in June after two decades in the job, Conde Nast Publications Inc. announced. No replacement has been named. During his tenure, Cooper transformed the magazine from a men’s fashion monthly to an award-winning general interest publication.

* Disk drive maker Maxtor Corp. of Milpitas, Calif., named Paul Tufano president and chief executive. Tufano had been chief operating officer and chief financial officer. Tufano, 49, replaces Michael Cannon, who resigned last month to become Solectron Corp.’s CEO.

* Los Angeles law firm Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker said it hired 41 litigators and corporate lawyers from Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison, a San Francisco firm that last month said it would close. Among the hires are 10 Brobeck partners, including six specializing in intellectual property and securities litigation, who will open Paul Hastings’ San Diego office.

* Intel Corp. cut the price of some semiconductors by as much as 21% to stoke demand. It reduced the price for the 2.66-GHz Pentium 4 processor to $241 from last month’s price of $305. The price of some Xeon chips fell by 16%.
