$113,500 Federal Grant Is for Firefighter Safety

From Times Staff Reports

The Federal Emergency Management Agency and the U.S. Fire Administration have awarded a $113,500 grant to the Orange Fire Department to improve staff safety.

The department is contributing $48,600 and plans an employee fitness program to reduce on-the-job heart attacks. The department also will buy at least three thermal-imaging cameras to help find firefighters inside burning buildings more easily.
