Mortgage Rates Edge Up From Record Low

The average interest rate on a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage rose to 5.95% for the week ending today, up from last week’s record low of 5.85%, Freddie Mac reported.

Rates on 15-year fixed-rate mortgages, a popular option for refinancing, also rose to 5.33%, from 5.24% last week.

Rates for one-year adjustable-rate mortgages dipped to 4.03%, down from 4.06% last week.

The rates do not include add-on fees known as points. The 30-year mortgages carried an average fee of 0.5 point this week.

The 15-year mortgages and one-year adjustable mortgages had an average 0.6-point financing fee.
