Judge Conducts Killer’s Sentencing, Wedding

Moments after a convicted killer was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison, the sentencing judge presided over the defendant’s marriage to his longtime sweetheart.
Joseph Perez, 34, had pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for a fatal crash that occurred while he was fleeing in a pickup truck from a California Highway Patrol officer.
Superior Court Judge Joseph Lodge imposed the mandated 15-years-to-life sentence, then he honored Perez’s request to be married before being sent to prison.
