A bomb ripped through a village in northern Bangladesh during a carnival, killing seven people, police said. No one claimed responsibility for the blast Friday in Dariapur, 40 miles north of the capital, Dhaka.

Ten people were held for questioning, and a team of army experts was investigating, police said. The blast went off as several hundred people gathered for the carnival, an annual event that includes concerts and a handicraft show. Friday is a weekend day in predominantly Muslim Bangladesh.
