Chavez Talks Tough; Foes Press for Vote
As foes of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez rallied on a highway for early elections to oust him, the former coup plotter hinted that he might be forced to take up arms again if his leftist “revolution” is defeated.
Speaking on a trip to Brazil, Chavez ruled out immediate elections and said that if his opponents succeed in “breaking my revolutionary government ... I would have to think of other methods.”
“I once had a rifle in my hands. I put it away, I don’t want to pick it up ever again. I have kept it somewhere,” he said.
