7 Killed, 10 Hurt as Rebels Set Off Car Bomb
From Times Wire Reports
Rebels from Colombia’s National Liberation Army detonated a car bomb near an army patrol, killing six soldiers and the civilian driver, the army said.
Nine more soldiers and a civilian were seriously injured in the attack, about 215 miles northeast of the capital, Bogota, in Arauca province.
This month, a group of about 70 U.S. Special Forces soldiers started training Colombian troops in Arauca to curb frequent rebel attacks on a pipeline that serves an oil field operated by Los Angeles-based Occidental Petroleum.
