Release, relax and rejuvenate

This is a good way to relax and cool down from a workout or get rejuvenated after a long and stressful day. You’ll get a deep release in your chest, back and hips with this stretch.

1 Lie flat on your back on a cushioned surface or a mat. Inhale as you lift and bend your left knee, placing your left foot above your right knee. Place your right hand on the outside of your left thigh. Extend your left arm out to the side at about shoulder level. Stretch out your fingertips while looking straight ahead.

2 As you exhale, roll onto your right hip, twisting to the right and bringing your right thigh toward the floor. Check your position to make sure your right hip is in line with your right shoulder. Continue to look toward the ceiling or tilt your head to the left. For a deeper stretch, place your right hand on your left knee and press closer to the floor. Try not to lift your left shoulder off the floor. Relax, breathe deeply and hold this position for 30 seconds or longer. Repeat on the other side.
