A U.S. soldier in Kuwait was injured by a gunshot to the abdomen during urban warfare training near Kuwait’s border with Iraq, military officials said.
The injured staff sergeant, who was wearing a bulletproof vest, was in stable condition after being flown by helicopter to a hospital.
In a separate incident, a round of ammunition exploded in the turret of a fighting vehicle, injuring one U.S. soldier and an American civilian contractor, a military spokesman said. Neither of the injuries was life-threatening.
