Body of Newborn Girl Found in Dumpster
The body of a newborn girl was found Tuesday in a dumpster.
Police were notified about 5:30 p.m. that an infant, with the umbilical cord attached, had been discovered near an apartment building in the 9700 block of South Glasgow Place.
California law allows a woman to leave her baby at a hospital, health clinic or fire station within 72 hours of delivery without being questioned or prosecuted. Several babies have been surrendered since the law was enacted in 2001, but despite the law, the bodies of several others have been found in dumpsters or at recycling centers.
