Three Carson High School students were ordered Tuesday to stand trial as adults on charges of raping a UCLA student in her dorm room.

Authorities allege that Chuwan Anthony and Deshawn Stringer, both 17, and Jamar Dawson, 16, broke away from a campus tour group on Dec. 5. One teacher was assigned to supervise the 56 high school students on the field trip, according to Los Angeles Unified officials.

The three defendants allegedly followed UCLA students who entered Fir Residence Hall with their electronic keys.

UCLA police arrested them the next day.

Earl Broady, the Inglewood attorney for Stringer, said the youths are not guilty.

“This girl consented to the incident,” he said. “She let them in.... She never called anyone for assistance” until hours after the youths had left.

Inglewood Juvenile Court Commissioner Wayne Denton ruled that the defendants were unfit to be tried as juveniles. They are expected to be charged as adults this week.
