A school bus driver used a fire extinguisher to fight off a gunman Wednesday, police said.
The bus driver, who was not identified, told officers she was parked outside the Arlington Heights middle school about 7 a.m. when a man with a pistol got on the bus. She said she struck him in the head with the fire extinguisher and he fled in a black Chevrolet Tahoe.
He was described as 30 to 35 years old, about 5 feet 10 and 160 to 180 pounds, with a closely cropped full beard. She said he wore a black baseball cap and black sweatsuit and had a tattoo of a green flag on one wrist.
