New Suits Claim Abuse by Priests Dating to 1941
From Staff and Wire Reports
A Boston lawyer filed 70 new lawsuits accusing 41 Roman Catholic priests of raping or otherwise sexually abusing children from 1941 to 1987.
The legal offensive comes despite efforts to settle claims against the Boston Archdiocese and despite the high-profile resignation last month of Cardinal Bernard Law as archbishop of Boston.
Attorney Mitchell Garabedian named the archdiocese as a defendant in 52 of the claims he filed in Suffolk Superior Court.
Archdiocese officials were not available for comment.
