JetBlue Profit Rises 37% as Sales Jump

JetBlue Airways Corp., one of the few U.S. airlines to avoid losses last year, said fourth-quarter profit climbed 37% as sales almost doubled.

Net income rose to $15.2 million, or 22 cents a share, from $11.1 million, or 20 cents, in the same period in 2001, the New York-based company said. Sales increased 96% to $187.3 million. California has been a priority for the company.

Shares rose 69 cents to $28.94 on Nasdaq.

* Johnson & Johnson, the world’s second-biggest health-care company, restated its fourth-quarter earnings to trim 2 cents a share because of costs incurred in a legal battle with Amgen Inc.
