Closing Arguments Expected in Murder Case
Closing arguments are scheduled this morning in the trial of a man accused of raping and strangling a Port Hueneme woman during a burglary at her condominium in 1993.
Michael Schultz, 33, a former Ventura resident, is charged with murder and special-circumstance allegations that he killed Cynthia Burger, 44, during a rape and burglary. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
The case languished for six years before investigators received an anonymous tip that led them to Schultz. DNA tests later matched his blood to semen found during her autopsy.
