Serena Williams, who played a schoolteacher in the ABC series, “My Wife and Kids” last year, apparently is expanding her acting horizons.

Williams has agreed to appear on two episodes of the Showtime series, “Street Time,” her entertainment agent, Jill Smoller of the William Morris Agency, said Monday. Smoller, and another widely known client, the Lakers’ Rick Fox, have been watching the matches here the last few days.

In “Street Time,” Williams will play a reformed gang member who has been paroled, Smoller said, adding that the part was written for the defending Wimbledon champion. Shooting will be in Toronto this month or next.

The week after Wimbledon, Williams is scheduled to appear in an independent feature shooting in Los Angeles, a movie starring Vivica Fox and Mo’Nique. Fox and Mo’Nique appeared in the 2001 movie, “Two Can Play That Game.” Title notwithstanding, it wasn’t about tennis.
