Impeach President Bush for Busting the Budget

Share

While visiting my mother in the Southland, I saw a campaign fund-raising letter she received from Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Vista). He said that he was running for governor because Gov. Gray Davis had “inherited a budget surplus of $12 billion and turned it into a $38-billion deficit in just over four years.” He also claimed that Davis had “lied to the people about the size of the deficit.” That sounds awfully familiar, and has made me decide to issue a challenge to Issa.

I will contribute $5,000 to his election campaign -- the maximum he requested -- if, within the next 30 days, he introduces a resolution in the U.S. House of Representatives calling for the impeachment of President Bush for turning the record surplus he inherited into a $400-billion deficit and for lying to the people about why and how that happened. If Issa is sincere, he will not hesitate to do so.

My money is safe, of course. Issa never will introduce such a resolution, since he is a co-conspirator with Bush and a hypocrite to boot. His outrage is remarkably one-sided. Of course, Issa still can redeem himself by introducing this resolution. Will he accept my challenge?
