Medtronic Inc. and Becton, Dickinson & Co. won Food and Drug Administration approval to market a device for diabetics that combines a blood sugar monitor with an insulin pump.

The wireless product displays a recommended insulin dose so patients don’t have to calculate the amount of the drug they need.

Shares of Minneapolis-based Medtronic rose 18 cents to $47.73, and Franklin Lakes, N.J.-based Becton Dickinson climbed 24 cents to $39.75, both on the New York Stock Exchange.
