Official Says S. Korea Is Now in a Recession

South Korea’s economy has slipped into recession after shrinking for the second consecutive quarter, Deputy Finance Minister Kim Young Ju said.
A state-run think tank, the Korea Development Institute, on Tuesday cut its forecast for South Korea’s growth rate this year to 3.1%. The economy expanded at a 6.3% rate last year.
