Utility Firm Urges Customers to Boil Water
About 2,000 customers of Maywood Municipal Water Co. No. 3 were urged to boil their water or use bottled water for drinking on Friday after chlorine levels in the municipal water supply appeared to be inadequate.
Robert Rohlf, the company’s director of operations, said the recent warm weather has increased the temperature of the water supply.
He said the warmer water requires more chlorine to eliminate dangerous microorganisms, and it was not immediately clear whether the chlorine level was high enough.
Rohlf said corrective measures may have resolved the problem, but test results will not be available until today.
