Blair Talks the Talk but Some Hear Only Mendacity

Share

I am convinced, after listening to British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s speech in front of Congress on Thursday, that most people will ignore his statement that the settlement of the Israel-Palestinian conflict is the most important aspect of any Middle East peace. It will be ignored because of the unilateral political and financial aid to Israel by American politicians in deference to American Jewish votes and money. This will not change and we will pay the price, even though European and other countries recognize that a more balanced approach is necessary, if not fair.

As I listened to Blair speak to Congress, I knew that he understood fully what he was saying. When George W. Bush speaks, I know he is pronouncing what someone else wrote for him to “read.” He even stops at the end of every line on the teleprompter, not just at the end of a sentence. Is Bush in over his head? Absolutely.

Blair is very articulate and he makes Bush sound like a high school dropout, but I still don’t believe a word he says. He should resign as prime minister of Britain, and Bush should be impeached for lying to the American people. The war against Iraq was not justified. They both are responsible for so many lost lives. Shame on them.

Blair addressed Congress and received the Congressional Gold Medal. Why? For aiding and abetting Bush in the murder and maiming of so many wonderful young people from both the American and British forces. All this based on lies, and we give Blair a medal. Shame on us.
