3 Held Trying to Drive With Barred Licenses
Three motorists whose licenses were suspended during court hearings Friday were arrested in a sting operation when they got in their cars and tried to drive home, authorities said.
Police followed 12 people leaving the Los Angeles County courthouse with suspended driver’s licenses to see whether they would attempt to drive away, Long Beach Police Sgt. Paul LeBaron said.
Only three got behind the wheel, and officers arrested them and impounded their vehicles.
Studies show that those who drive without licenses or with suspended or revoked licenses cause a disproportionate number of traffic accidents that result in injuries and fatalities, LeBaron said.
