Update -- Already enduring a difficult season, Washburn has slipped to uncharted depths since the All-Star break, giving up 15 runs over 9 1/3 innings. The left-hander would be 0-2 over his two most recent starts except his teammates bailed him out with a five-run rally against Baltimore only to watch the Orioles win the game with a late home run off Francisco Rodriguez. Zito is also in the midst of a disappointing season, losing four of his last five decisions.
