Former South Gate City Treasurer Albert Robles surrendered to authorities Monday, four days after he was indicted on charges of election-related fraud and misappropriating public funds.

Robles, wearing a dark blue suit and red tie, walked into a downtown Los Angeles courtroom, ending a police search for him.

He did not speak but promptly posted a $90,500 bond.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David S. Wesley ordered him to return to court Wednesday for arraignment.

Outside of court, Robles’ attorney, Tom Brown, said his client cut short a Mexican vacation when he learned of the allegations.

Brown said Robles is “eager to address the charges. He feels extremely confident that he will prevail on the charges.”

Robles and two others were indicted last week in an alleged illegal conspiracy in fighting a voter recall drive earlier this year.
