Judges and Conscience

Share

Re “ ‘Conscience’ Is No Cause for Judges to Flout Laws,” Commentary, June 1: Howard Bashman’s argument that it is a judge’s duty to believe and act as if the Supreme Court can do no wrong is balderdash. Our history is replete with evidence to the contrary. He treats the high court as if it functions by divine right. Currently it is “right” but sadly deficient in divinity. It flouts the spirit of the people for the letter of the status quo.
