Rowberry obituary -- An obituary brief in Monday’s California section on Dave Rowberry, a keyboardist for the British band the Animals, said he was 62 but gave his birth date as Dec. 27, 1943. According to the reference works Contemporary Musicians and the New Rolling Stone Encyclopedia of Rock & Roll, Rowberry was born on that date, which would have made him 59.

Born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne on Dec. 27, 1943, Rowberry joined the band in 1965, replacing Alan Price, the group’s original leader and keyboardist. The group split up toward the end of the 1960s, but some members got together recently and regrouped as the Animals and Friends.
