FTC Seeks More Power to Fight Spam

The Federal Trade Commission asked Congress for additional authority to fight unwanted e-mail messages.
FTC commissioners urged members of two congressional panels to extend telemarketing regulations to the Internet and let the agency cooperate more with other countries to track down marketers that send out deceptive online pitches.
